Choosing Affordable Wedding Stationary That Matches Your Theme

I’m a big stationery gal. I LOVE designing cards, invites and doodling on letters to send to my friends. That’s why I love seeing the different wedding invitation suites that all of my couples have!

Choosing wedding stationery can be stressful. With so many options, varying vendors and differing price points, deciding which route to take can be time-consuming. That’s why I’m partnering with Basic Invite to give you the scoop on wedding stationery and cut the time you spend on wedding stationery in half so you can give yourself a much-needed break with the extra time you’ll save. (We can all use one of those, am I right?)

Today we’re talking about the first piece of stationery you’ll have to select: save the dates.

A fun and unique route to take is sending out Save the Date magnets! Save the dates often end up on the fridge, so using Basic Invite’s cheap save the date magnets will be conducive to helping your save the dates make it to their home for the next few months – until those official invites are sent out. Plus you get to show off those pretty engagement photos as a bonus ;)

If you want to take the more traditional route, there are plenty of wedding postcard save the dates to choose from. Want to show off your engagement photos? Pick a card that features your image! Or if you haven’t had engagement photos taken yet, or just want to save them to be released later, there are tons of options with illustrations and beautiful typography.

Okay, so now that you know your options for ordering inexpensive yet high-quality invites, let’s talk about choosing invites that will match your theme.

If you have an idea of your wedding colors, keep them in mind when designing your card. Basic Invite has 180 different color options to choose from so you’re sure to find your colors in their palettes.

When selecting the color for the background or text on your save the date, find one that reflects your wedding color scheme. They also offer 40 different colors of envelopes. My advice? Order an envelope that reflects one of your accent colors, or a neutral that blends nicely with your theme. For example: if your colors are navy and green, an off white or light brown envelope will work well, especially for your stationary flat lay photographs!

If you’re using an image in your save the date, using colors that are in the same general color palette of your image will look best. For example: if your engagement photos were shot in the forest with lots of trees and foliage, consider ordering a forest green envelope to match the image on your card.

Want to make things extra easy for your guests? Send out matching Seal and Send invites! (Pro Tip:Try to match the colors to your Save the Dates and menu stationery to make it all look cohesive.) The Seal and Send invites include your invitation at the top, and the RSVP card as a tear-off on the bottom. They can even come pre-addressed, just upload the addresses and print so all you’ll need to do is stamp and send!

I hope this post was helpful! What matters most is that you choose save the dates and invites that you love, and ones that reflect your love story!
