Tips for Beautiful Getting Ready Wedding Photos

This one goes out to my brides and grooms! The getting ready portion of your day is when you can kick back, get your glam done and hang out with the gals or enjoy a few beers and loosen up with the guys. Capturing the sweet moments before your wedding with you and your closest friends is one of my favorite things. Here are some tips for setting scene for stunning getting ready images:

💍 Find the best lighting!

Often times you’ll be getting ready indoors, so choosing a space with a lot of natural light is key. Even if you're in a small space, finding a window or well lit part of the space can help light your photos more naturally and make the world of a difference.

💍 Have your dress + shoes + rings prepared for the photographer.

We love grabbing detail shots of your dress + accessories as you’re getting your hair + makeup done! I ask my clients to set aside a few items so they're ready to go when I get there:

  • all rings (engagement + wedding bands)

  • dress + veil

  • bride's and groom's shoes

  • bride's jewelry

  • groom's tie

  • groom's accessories (watch, cologne, etc.)

  • invite/stationary suite (save the dates, invites, RSVPs)

💍 Wear matching (or similarly colored) robes (for the ladies!)

Matching robes or even just robes in the same color scheme are great for getting ready photos! Another fun touch is custom or cute glasses for juice or mimosas!
